a known symptom defined in John Hermann's book 'Motorcycle Journeys Through the Alps & Corsica' if you don't have a copy you will need one to tour the best of the European Alps.

My wife and I have definitely caught this 'bug', so we have enjoyed a number of trips to and through the Alps on our motorcycles over the last few years, with many to come we all things being equal. I will try to do justice to the awesome trips we have had. If there is too much detail it is with the intention of assisting another budding motorcyclist who is not quite sure if it should be done. The answer is a resounding YES you haven't lived if you live in Europe and you have not ridden the roads of "motorcycling Valhalla".

We have a number of bikes that we ride but primarily tour on either our modified Cagiva Elefant 944ie or our BMW1200GSA. We like to tour on both of them although the GSA having a longer frame allows more room for two up riding and both are quite capable almost anywhere we wish up to about 3000 meteres (10,000 feet in old money)

As we primarily camp, we would rather spend our cash on our bike or another trip but having said that when we are in transit we avail ourselves of the many reasonably priced hotels.
